ENJOY THE MOMENT

'Enjoy the moment, but remember what you are doing and where you are going." That is one thought I had after an experience much earlier. “Earlier” in that it was one a.m. and I was driving home after leaving the Atlantic coast of north Florida. I left to beat the downpour of rain expected with the arrival of a tropical storm.

As I cruised through Atlanta I was listening to the music of Huw Priday, a Welsh tenor with a marvelous voice. After hearing the whole CD I kept replaying my favorite selection, “Healer of my Heart.”

Enraptured by the music I finally noticed the sign for the next exit said “Wade Green Road.” I had travelled several miles and several exits too far. I had completely missed ------ never even saw --- the major exit of an interstate leading off another interstate.

Maybe I was too tired … maybe I was too caught up in the music … but for sure I had lost my focus. The experiences serves as a reminder to me for so many situations in life … "enjoy the moment" ... but remember what I am doing and where I am going.

Huw Priday, the vocalist I was listening to when I lost my way on the highway last night, has been instrumental in reviving interest in the Welch Revival of 1904. He sang a song at the centenary celebration that came to be known as the “Love Song” of the revival.
