Over the last ten years I have shown a beautiful 17 minute movie, The Harvest, to a number of groups. I have watched it also various times alone by myself, and each time I am moved emotionally. The story is set in the farmland of North Dakota. A young family faces a crisis as it races against time at harvest. What happens is a "parable" about community.
When I ordered a new DVD of the movie, I noticed for the first time the name of the executive producer, Chuck Klein.
I remembered a colleague named Chuck Klein when I worked with high school students almost 40 years ago through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. With a little research I realized he is the same Chuck who produced this movie.
In fact, the movie is a true story from Chuck's early childhood. As the website explains … “It is a story about family, about crisis and about community, it encourages and challenges us to come together, put aside our differences for a greater cause, and be involved in changing our world. It is a wonderful picture of caring, of sacrifice, of prayer and of courage.” www.theharvest.comThe DVD came in the mail. I watched both the English and Portuguese tracks. As always it stirred my heart to want to be a part of “the harvest.” I heartily recommend the movie!
